Senior Software Engineer (Enablement)

We offer flexible working and have recently shifted to a 'remote first' working policy with a minimum expectation of coming to the office two days a month, however you can come in more often if you wish to.The Engineering team’s office is in central Birmingham,  just a five minute walk from New Street Station and minutes from Snow Hill Station.***Accountabilities*We are looking for a DevOps Senior Software Engineer who will report directly to the Engineering Manager, DevOps Enablement for The Economist. You’ll do this by working closely with the other DevOps analysts, understanding their needs and problems to deliver a DevOps roadmap.***How you will contribute:** Work with our stream aligned teams to enable them to acquire missing DevOps capabilities (cloud and app sec).* Help to reduce DevOps vulnerabilities and ensure that our products are highly secure via appsec (the things we build and how we build them) and cloudsec (things we run on).* Mentor others across the Enablement and Product teams.* Lead on DevOps approach within the product focused teams.* Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Devops Enablement, you’ll be one of the technical specialists on the team.***To succeed in this role it would be an advantage if you possess:** Strong DevOps engineering experience* An interest in DevSecOps culture and practises* Familiarity with any of the well-known DevSecOps frameworks* Developing well thought out and straightforward solutions to problems* Be kind, compassionate and supportive of your colleagues* Driven to improve things where possible whilst accepting that not everything can be changed at once* Help us drive maturity of DevSecOps practises across The Economist.* Coach, mentor and support your colleagues.
