Our client is seeking a dedicated Firearms Enquiry Officer to join their team in Exeter on a temporary full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about public service and has a keen eye for detail!\n\nPosition Details:\nContract Type: Temporary\nHourly Rate: £15.72\nWorking Pattern: Full Time 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, Hybrid\nLocation: Exeter\n\nKey Responsibilities:\nAs a Firearms Enquiry Officer, you will be at the forefront of ensuring safe practises regarding firearms and ammunition.

Your principal duties will include:\n\nConducting thorough visits to applicants' premises to assess secure storage and provide crime prevention advice.\nInterviewing applicants to evaluate their suitability for holding a firearms certificate, with a focus on personal and family circumstances.\nMaking informed decisions or recommendations on certificate applications, highlighting any concerns.\nManaging your appointments diary via Outlook to accommodate applicants' needs effectively.\nMonitoring changes in existing certificate holders' circumstances and taking necessary actions to mitigate risks.\nBuilding positive relationships with certificate holders to foster trust and gather intelligence on illegal firearm usage.\nConducting interviews and preparing case files for any breaches of certificate conditions.\nProviding specialist advice and guidance as needed.Essential Criteria:\nTo thrive in this role, you will need:\n\nA full UK driving licence or the ability to travel.\nSignificant investigative experience.\nProficiency in IT, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.\nA working knowledge of firearms legislation and practises.\nProven decision-making skills and the ability to produce detailed reports.Skills & Competencies:\nWe are looking for someone who embodies the following values:\n\nEmotionally aware and supportive.\nTakes ownership of their work.\nCollaborative and innovative.\nPossesses critical analytical skills.Be part of a team that ensures safety and compliance in our communities.
