Lead safeguarding and wellbeing at the heart of school life

Wilden View School is seeking a dedicated and highly knowledgeable Assistant Headteacher – DSL, Attendance and Wellbeing to join our senior leadership team.

This critical role places you at the centre of safeguarding, child protection and student wellbeing, ensuring every child is safe, supported and able to succeed.

About the role

Working as the school's Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), you will:

  • Take strategic and operational lead for safeguarding and child protection across the school
  • Work closely with external agencies including social care, police and local authorities
  • Lead safeguarding training and act as the key point of expertise for staff
  • Manage referrals and maintain accurate safeguarding records and systems
  • Promote a strong culture of safeguarding and wellbeing across the school
  • Oversee strategies to improve attendance and student engagement
  • Support students' wider personal development and wellbeing
  • Contribute to senior leadership and school improvement planning

About you

We are looking for a highly skilled safeguarding professional who:

  • Has significant experience leading safeguarding in a school
  • Holds (or is willing to complete) DSL training
  • Has strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and processes
  • Can confidently manage complex cases and multi-agency working
  • Has excellent communication, organisation and record-keeping skills
  • Is passionate about student safety, wellbeing and inclusion
